While there is no shortage of helmet options in the market, there are surprisingly few good choices for the ADV touring crowd. Some of the most popular ADV models are quite heavy, have excessive wind noise and are limited to just one configuration. Because of these limitations, Touratech has set out to make the ultimate helmet for adventure touring.
TOURATECH REVOLUTIONIZES THE TOURING EXPERIENCE
The Aventuro helmet was designed by motorcycle travelers and its features reflect this. The visors on most helmets tend to grab passing air which limits your range of motion and puts strain on your neck. The Aventuro’s visor is designed with massive ports that allow air flow through the base of the visor. Like a pressure release valve, it dumps air to reduce pull on the head reducing strain and maximizing rider comfort. In sunny situations, the tip of the visor can be extended with a quick pull on its adjustable end. The Aventuro has been sculpted to cut through the wind with less turbulence and noise for the rider.
Like a Transformer, the Aventuro helmet can be converted between street, dual-sport, and off-road modes on the fly with no tools. The visor can be removed for a long ride on the tarmac and installed quickly for a few days of riding adventurous roads in the mountains. The shield can also be removed completely to accommodate goggles for dusty riding or full-blown off-road riding. Whether it’s a street bike day, adventure ride or single-track weekend in the woods, the Aventuro can do it all in light-weight comfort while providing the highest levels of protection.
Other features:
• Easy open, easy close vents designed to keep rain out
• Intercom system ready, with speaker cavities
• Ergo padding system with machine washable liner
• Emergency cheek pad removal system
• Liner cut away to accommodate glasses
• Designed for goggles with quick-strap ready embossments and strap-lock
shape
• Extra long chin strap allows removal of helmet without completely
unfastening 2DD buckle
• Exceeds all DOT and CE standards for helmet safety
IN PURSUIT OF PERFECTION: CLEVER CONCEPT, INNOVATIVE DESIGN
Not only the motorbike but also the equipment has to satisfy all kinds of requirements on a tour: changing climate zones and different weather, strenuous off-road stretches and high-speed motorway runs. That's why the new Aventuro Carbon helmet is multi-functional just like the Compañero range of motorcycle suits.
The impetus to develop our own helmet came from the experiences of Touratech founder Herbert Schwarz, who has taken motorcycles to the four corners of the world over the last three decades and more. Always looking for the perfect solution, it was his aim to develop a helmet that is more than just a compromise, and which offers maximum comfort and absolute safety under all conditions. After all, it should be up to the rider – and not the manufacturer – how to use the helmet.
The equipment you use has a major influence on how you experience your trip. For most motorcycle tourers, their equipment is just a means to an end that does more or less what it’s supposed to – it could have been better, or it could have been worse. But Touratech founder Herbert Schwarz, who has been riding motorbikes to all corners of the earth for more than thirty years, has a passion for performance in all things related to adventure riding. Herbert has always stayed true to the basic principle: intuitive development based on his own experience. And he’s still a perfectionist.
To realize this project, Touratech teamed up with one of the most innovative, multiple Red Dot Award winning helmet manufacturers in the EU. The Portugal based company uses advanced, high-perfomance manufacturing technologies, self-producing all parts of the helmet – apart from the visor.
Even with so much functionality, the Aventuro Carbon is visually appealing as well: its innovative design with typical Touratech edges both looks good and improves aerodynamics. The new Touratech helmet will be available from early 2015 in sizes XS to XXL, and in five different finishes:
